It’s been another Spirit filled and Spirit led weekend here at St. Peter’s, here’s your recap of things that happened and things that are coming up soon…
Yesterday following worship we held our annual congregational meeting. This important time in the life and ministry of St. Peter’s was a time for us to look back at the past year and also an opportunity to look forward to the future. After opening prayer and remarks from Pastor Todd and Council President Jan Gera, 3 World of Difference Awards were given to Claire Riggs, Ed Devitt, and Vicky Hyczko. The World of Difference Award is given to members of the St. Peter’s community who go “above and beyond the call of duty” in their service and ministry in the congregation. Following the awards we gave thanks to our two outgoing Church Council members, Vicky Hyczko and Cate Lownes, for their years of tremendous leadership and service at St. Peter’s. Our next order of business was the election of new Council members and we are blessed to have current Council members Brian Deal and David Stettler each being elected to new terms of service and we welcome Eliane Sfeir-Markus and Danielle Gardner to Church Council and look forward to their coming service and leadership. After Council elections were completed we looked back at the many things that we were able to do as a congregation in the last year and we looked ahead at our future, we approved our budget for 2017, and we happily adjourned following a closing prayer. It was a wonderful and joyous meeting that will be a springboard into 2017 as we continue to share the life, love, and joy of Jesus Christ with others!
On Saturday we had our first Game Day here at church and we had a great time! Kids and adult played games, ran around, ate snacks, talked and got to know one another – it was a wonderful day of Fellowship. A huge thank you to all those who attended and to all who helped with both setup and cleanup for our game playing fun.
On Sunday, February 5th our Children, Youth, and Family Ministry Team will be selling hoagies to support our ministries here at St. Peter’s. This year we will not be taking orders but will be simply making Italian, Ham & Cheese, Turkey, and Cheese hoagies that you can purchase the day of the sale after worship. All hoagies are made with lettuce, tomatoes, oregano, salt and pepper. The cost of the hoagies will be $7 each. If you would like to help with the hoagie sale, or if you have any questions, please contact Pastor Suloff and thank you in advance for enjoying a hoagie and supporting our ministries here at St. Peter’s!
Soups on! We will continue our “Souper Bowl” Tradition February 5th. All our amazing cooks will be making their delicious soups to sell after the 10:00 service on February 5th. SUPER BOWL Sunday. Homemade soups include minestrone – chicken noodle – seafood chowder – turkey chili – and many more…all freshly made. Soups will be available to purchase in Fellowship hall. Some will be frozen for you to toss in the freezer to enjoy if it ever snows again – some will be fresh in containers to take home. Come to fellowship hall and stock up! Proceeds go to support our Social Ministry programs. Please contact Jan Gera with any questions… 610-517-8825.
Join us on Wednesday, February 8th as we again partner with Christ Lutheran Church of Oreland for Pub Theology Night at our new meeting place, The Broad Axe Tavern on Route 73 in Amber at 6:30pm for faith, fellowship, food and more. If you plan on attending please RSVP to Pastor Suloff or the church office by Tuesday, February 7th so that we can be sure to reserve enough space at The Broad Axe. Our discussion questions will be available on the church website a few days before we meet.
We think that covers everything for now but be sure to check back every day for new posts, announcements, and information about St. Peter’s and don’t forget that you can subscribe to our website to receive notifications about new posts by simply entering your email address in the signup form on the right!
