Weekend Recap: January 22 Edition

It’s been another Spirit filled and Spirit led weekend here at St. Peter’s, here’s your recap of things that happened and things that are coming up soon…

Do you enjoy board games and card games? Join us on Saturday, January 28th from 3pm to 5pm for our first ever Family Game Day! We will provide games and light snacks and fun and prizes. Do you have a favorite board game—feel free to bring it along! All ages are welcome to join us for this fun filled afternoon. If you are interested in helping with this event or have any questions please contact Pastor Suloff.

Our Annual Congregational Meeting will be this coming Sunday, January 29th following the 10am worship service. On the agenda we will be electing new council members, approving the 2017 operating budget, and discussing future ministries. If you would like to review the Annual Report and the proposed operating budget copies are available at the church or please contact the church office. We hope you will join us for this important day in the life of St. Peter’s.

As we prepare for our upcoming Congregational Meeting we took a little time last week to speak with Jan Gera, our current Council president, and John Lewis, a long serving member and past president of Council, to find out why they serve and what their hopes are for the future of St. Peter’s. You can read their interviews right here!

On Sunday, February 5th our Children, Youth, and Family Ministry Team will be selling hoagies to support our ministries here at St. Peter’s. This year we will not be taking orders but will be simply making Italian, Ham & Cheese, Turkey, and Cheese hoagies that you can purchase the day of the sale after worship. All hoagies are made with lettuce, tomatoes, oregano, salt and pepper. The cost of the hoagies will be $7 each. If you would like to help with the hoagie sale, or if you have any questions, please contact Pastor Suloff and thank you in advance for enjoying a hoagie and supporting our ministries here at St. Peter’s!

Soups on! We will continue our “Souper Bowl” Tradition February 5th. All our amazing cooks will be making their delicious soups to sell after the 10:00 service on February 5th.  SUPER BOWL Sunday.  Homemade soups include minestrone – chicken noodle – seafood chowder –  turkey chili – and many more…all freshly made.  Soups will be available to purchase in Fellowship hall. Some will be frozen for you to toss in the freezer to enjoy if it ever snows again – some will be fresh in containers to take home. Come to fellowship hall and stock up! Proceeds go to support our Social Ministry programs. Please contact Jan Gera with any questions… 610-517-8825.

First, thank you to all the members who participated by having a portrait taken and a big thank you to Carolyn Hanel for all of her hard work organizing the new directory and portraits! The directory does not only provide helpful information for our members (old and new) but also serves as documentation of our congregation members. Now we are in need of photos of any and all of St. Peter’s various activities and ministries for the period 2013-2017. We think that we are pretty good on Boar’s Head pictures, but we need Confirmation, First Communion, Social Ministry, the Car Show, Sunday School, etc.  Please forward them in a digital format only to  cbhanel@yahoo.com.

Thanks to everyone who came yesterday to sing and worship! You did a very nice job. Due to the congregational meeting after church next Sunday (Jan 29), we will not rehearse after church next week. We will, however, meet as close to 9 AM as possible in the choir room. Carol Evans has sent music recordings for the next 2 weeks – please listen and get a good idea of the anthems – if you have not received the recordings please contact Carol at evans.c@gmercyu.edu.  We would also certainly love new choir members – if you are interested in learning more about the choir or giving the choir a try please contact Carol.

We think that covers everything for now but be sure to check back every day for new posts, announcements, and information about St. Peter’s and don’t forget that you can subscribe to our website to receive notifications about new posts by simply entering your email address in the signup form on the right!
