Weekend Recap: January 15 Edition

It has been an eventful and busy few days at St. Peter’s so let’s get right to it…

As you probably know by now Pastor Todd has announced his upcoming retirement (you can read his full letter to the congregation here). While there is some sadness there is also great joy amongst the congregation for this big next step in Pastor Todd’s life and great thanksgiving for his many years of ministry, love, and care at St. Peter’s. We are looking forward to celebrating Pastor Todd’s ministry over the coming months and, of course, continuing to share the life, love, and joy of Jesus Christ together!

Speaking of sharing the life, love, and joy of Jesus Christ with others, did you miss worship this Sunday? Don’t worry, you can hear Pastor Todd bring the Good News right here!

Last week we held our monthly Pub Ministry gathering together with Christ’s Lutheran Church in Oreland at our new venue The Broad Axe Tavern. Meeting in an upper room our group of 15, which ranged in age from folks in their 20’s to folks in their 80’s, discussed a wide array of topics from having children, to sports, to the nature of truth, to the power of questions, to the existence of hell, among many other topics. It truly was a fascinating discussion and a wonderful time of fellowship for all. Our next Pub Ministry gathering will be at The Broad Axe on Wednesday, February 8th – we hope you will join us!

St. Peter’s Annual Blood Drive with the Red Cross will be on Saturday, January 21st from 8am to 1pm – for more information please contact the church office.

Our Annual Congregational Meeting will be on Sunday, January 29th following the 10am worship service. On the agenda we will be electing new council members, approving the 2017 operating budget, and discussing future ministries. If you would like to review the Annual Report and the proposed operating budget copies are available at the church or please contact the church office. We hope you will join us for this important day in the life of St. Peter’s.

Do you enjoy board games and card games? Join us on Saturday, January 28th from 3pm to 5pm for our first ever Family Game Day! We will provide games and light snacks and fun and prizes. Do you have a favorite board game—feel free to bring it along! All ages are welcome to join us for this fun filled afternoon. If you are interested in helping with this event or have any questions please contact Pastor Suloff and be sure to check the church website and bulletin for additional updates.

We know you would like to sing in the Choir, but another night out, and the nasty winter weather keeps you from lifting your voice in musical praise. So – we’re doing something to make it Easier for you. Choir rehearsals are going to be on Sunday mornings following worship, during January & February. Take a few minutes after worship to get a cup of coffee and greet your church friends, then come join us at 11:15 for a condensed rehearsal. We are hoping this will make it easier on the present choir members, as well as make it possible for some new singers to join us. We hope that Includes YOU!
