More post-Thanksgiving thoughts

After Thanksgiving festivities busyness usually follows – shopping, decorating, planning, and all kinds of running around. It can be good to take some time and reflect on the holiday we just celebrated and the meaning of the day as well as the meaning of the season that we enter into in Advent. One way to reflect is to consider our many and various neighbors, from numerous backgrounds and experiences, and how together we represent one community, one people, God’s people. This a link to a beautiful story from the New York Times which relays the Thanksgiving traditions (and recipes) of 15 families from different places in the country and different backgrounds and ethnicities and the different yet similar ways in which we all give thanks together – together we are called to love and serve all of God’s people, all of our neighbors, all people.
