The SCRIP Program was initiated to provide a means to help pay down St. Peter's mortgage. SCRIP is a term that means "substitute money". You are able to use the value of the SCRIP card to purchase everyday expenses . . . food, clothing, gifts, entertainment, other essentials. With every SCRIP card purchased, St. Peter's earns a revenue percentage. Many of the participating retailers represent businesses where you already shop.
One Sunday you submit your Order Form, including payment in the form of cash or check. The following Sunday you receive the SCRIP cards you ordered. Example: purchase a $25 card, you have a full $25 worth of buying power. You do not have to use all of the $25 value the first time you present the SCRIP card to pay for a purchase at the retailer represented by the SCRIP card. You can use the card's balance on another purchase in the future. Each card has a percentage, as noted on the Order Form. The Great Lakes SCRIP Center deposits that earnings in St. Peter's account.
